Everything you need to know about DAT Drives — how delivery works, how payment is collected, what happens to your files, and how pricing is structured. If you don't find your answer here, contact us directly.
Getting Started
What is DAT Drives? DAT Drives is a cloud storage and client delivery platform for photographers and videographers. Upload your gallery, share one link, and get paid via Stripe — full-resolution files release automatically the moment payment clears.
Who is DAT Drives built for? Wedding and event photographers, videographers and filmmakers, photo and video studios, and creative agencies managing client delivery at volume.
Is DAT Drives available now? Yes. DAT Drives is currently in early access, working directly with a select group of professional photographers and videographers to shape the product ahead of a wider launch.
Do I need to install any software? No. DAT Drives runs entirely in your browser at cloud.datdrives.com — there's nothing to download or install to upload, manage galleries, or track payments.
Pricing & Billing
How much does DAT Drives cost? Free Trial: $0, 10 GB storage, full feature access, no credit card required. Standard Plan: $29/month or $299/year, 2 TB storage. Custom Plan: contact us for teams or high-volume delivery.
What's included in the Free Trial? The same core features as the Standard Plan — unlimited client galleries, photo and video delivery in one gallery, watermarked previews, Stripe payment collection, and automatic file release — with 10 GB of storage. No credit card required to start.
What's the difference between monthly and yearly billing? The Standard Plan is $29/month or $299/year. Paying yearly saves about $49 — roughly 14% — compared to paying month to month.
Can I cancel anytime? Yes. You can cancel your account at any time through your account settings. Your account stays active until the end of your current billing period — no early cutoff.
Do you offer refunds? DAT Drives does not offer refunds for partial subscription periods. If you cancel, you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
What happens if I go over my storage limit? DAT Drives does not guarantee preservation of files uploaded beyond your plan's storage limit — so it's worth upgrading before you hit the ceiling, not after. If you're consistently close to your limit, the Custom Plan can be sized to your actual volume.
Payments & Invoicing
Does DAT Drives take a commission on my sales? No. DAT Drives charges a flat fee for storage and delivery — never a percentage of what you invoice. Only the standard Stripe processing fee applies.
Does DAT Drives ever hold or touch my client's money? No. Per our Terms of Service, DAT Drives does not hold, escrow, or take possession of client funds. All client transactions are processed directly through Stripe's payment infrastructure.
Can I set my own prices? Yes. You decide what to charge for each gallery. DAT Drives collects it via Stripe and unlocks the files once payment is confirmed.
Can I add extra charges to an invoice before my client pays? Yes. You're in full control of the invoice — add charges for extra hours, added services, prints, or last-minute requests any time before you send the final balance. Your client only ever sees and pays the final amount you set.
Security & Privacy
Is my content secure? Yes. Files are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, stored on OVHcloud's secure infrastructure. Access is controlled through authenticated, payment-gated links — no one can reach your full-resolution files without paying first.
Do you ever use or train on my files? No. Per our Privacy Policy, DAT Drives does not use your uploaded files to train machine learning models or for any purpose other than providing the service to you.
Who owns my files? You do. DAT Drives does not claim ownership of your content. Uploading only grants us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your files solely to deliver the service.
What happens to my files if I close my account? Your files are retained for 30 days after cancellation, giving you time to export your data. After 30 days, files are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Does DAT Drives support data protection rights for clients in Europe? Depending on your location, DAT Drives provides rights to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data, as well as to object to certain processing — consistent with regulations like GDPR. Data may be transferred internationally as needed to provide the service, with appropriate protections in place.
File Delivery & Client Experience
How does client delivery work? You upload your photos and video and share a single gallery link with your client. They see watermarked photo previews and low-resolution video streams until the invoice is paid. Once payment clears through Stripe, full-resolution photos and full-quality video unlock automatically.
What's different about DAT Drives for videographers? Most client gallery platforms are built for photos first, with video as an afterthought. DAT Drives stores video at full quality, shows clients a low-resolution preview before payment, and releases the original file automatically after payment — without compression, expiration, or a separate delivery link alongside your photo gallery.
Storage & File Support
How much storage do I get? The Standard Plan includes 2 TB — enough for multiple full-scale events, including video. A wedding with high-resolution photos and an edited film typically uses 50–150 GB. Need more? The Custom Plan is built around your volume.
What file types are supported? Standard photo formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, RAW) and video formats (MP4, MOV, and other common formats). If you have specific format requirements — including large RAW video files — contact us directly.
